Dravyaguna is an integral part of Ayurveda, which deals comprehensively about rasa, guna virya, vipaka and prabhava (pharmacokinetics and pharmcodynamics) of herbs.
Branch also deals with identification, collection, storage, and preservation of raw materials of plant origin.
To develop research methodology for understanding of principles of Ayurvedic Pharmacology & Materia Medica balancing Classical & Contemporary knowledge.
The Department of Dravyaguna intends to achieve academic excellence and promoting development of scientific temper for Ayurvedic Herbal Research.
Department conducts Induction programme every year for Under-graduation Timely organizes workshop and hands on training in field of Plant identification (Basic botany), sampling techniques, pharmacognostic studies, herbarium preparation techniques.
Department frequently has activities like field visits to nearby flora of Jamboti, Yellapur, Moodbidri, Bakkal and Vanamahotasava. Awareness programmes to students in college and general public of community preservation of flora and home remedy medicine are done regularly.
